Alice CaltriderFormer Director of Development Alice Caltrider, who recently retired from LifeBridge Health after more than 40 years, says she got serious about a charitable bequest to the hospital system while attending retirement seminars at LifeBridge.

“I always knew I would be leaving something in my will to my church and to LifeBridge Health, but the retirement planning triggered me to actually put it in writing,” she says.

Alice started work in 1976 at what was then Baltimore County General Hospital (which became Northwest Hospital). She moved to the Northwest Hospital Foundation in 1978 and eventually became the foundation director for Northwest Hospital and then moved to Sinai after the LifeBridge Health merger in 1998.

“When I first started working at Baltimore County General, I never dreamed I would spend my entire career at LifeBridge Health,” she says. “But I am grateful that I could grow so much within the same organization—which is almost unheard of these days.”

She said she also is grateful to LifeBridge Health for extending her mother’s life with a minimally invasive heart valve replacement.

Alice, who is widowed after being married to her husband Bruce for 36 years, now splits her year between Florida and Carroll County. “I am happy in retirement, but I miss my colleagues and being part of the team,” she says. “It was so nice to have a common goal that benefited the community.”
