Anne and Buddy Keyser

Anne and Buddy Keyser

Buddy and Anne Keyser met in high school and have been together ever since. Married for more than fifty years, they enjoy an active lifestyle. When Buddy suffered a heart attack many years ago, he and Anne began monitoring his heart health. A subsequent heart valve condition, discovered during a physical at Hagerstown Hospital a few years later, led them to Sinai Hospital.

The referral from Hagerstown to Sinai was critical for Buddy’s condition. After undergoing a procedure to remove blockages in his heart valve, Buddy’s heart functions were regularly monitored. Several years later, Buddy learned from his provider, Dr. Gurbel that a heart valve replacement was needed. Dr. Gurbel referred Buddy to Dr. Peter Cho, who successfully performed this procedure at Sinai Hospital.

As they think about the cardiac care journey, Buddy and Anne are grateful for all the compassion and kindness extended to them at Sinai. The cardiac team communicated with them throughout the process and provided reassurances about Buddy’s ability to live an active life post-op. For Anne, the extra kindness that allowed her to stay at the Hackerman-Patz House after Buddy’s valve replacement surgery and avoid the more than 2-hour drive home, is something she will never forget. Now, Buddy and Anne are traveling, enjoying their home, and planning future golf outings for Buddy with his friends. In Anne’s words, “Sinai saved Buddy’s life twice.”

Several years ago, Buddy and Anne decided to create their legacy of thanks with an estate gift to support the Cardiovascular Institute at Sinai Hospital. This gift will resource cardiac care needs for future cardiologists and their patients at Sinai. We are grateful to Buddy and Anne, as members of the LifeBridge Health Glazer Legacy Society, for their legacy gift to Sinai Hospital.
